Gift Aid Scheme

The Arts Society Dorking membership fee includes an affiliation fee to The Arts Society (national) on which members who are taxpayers can claim gift aid.

The Arts Society (national) is a registered charity, and can claim a tax refund at the basic rate of tax on the annual affiliation fees paid by The Arts Society Dorking in respect of members on 1st January each year. This fee is deemed to be part of the subscription paid by each member on joining, or on renewal of membership, and is accepted by the HMRC as being a donation (less tax) from the member to The Arts Society if a Tax Declaration Form (“Gift Aid form”) has been completed. The fee is set annually, and completion of the Gift Aid form is voluntary. The main rules of the scheme are listed on the Gift Aid form and we very much hope that you will decide to help by completing and returning it to the Membership Secretary. Although The Arts Society collects the tax refunds, The Arts Society Dorking receives a fee from them as their agents for operating the scheme. The money The Arts Society receives from gift aid goes to the Patricia Fay Memorial Fund, which supports the arts and individual artists through grants and sponsorship.

A Gift Aid form is available.

A higher rate taxpayer can claim further tax relief in their Self-Assessment tax return.

The amount of donation is equal to the affiliation fee paid by the Society.

Tax year ended 5 April 2025 is £16.20.
